Kodachrome

I read about the cancellation of the Kodachrome film. In truth I don't remember,if I ever bought that brand because I would just buy what was on sale, but I'm mourning it anyway.  What I am really sad about is the passing of anticipation.  I remember returning from vacations, sending off my rolls of film and praying that, they weren't lost.  After a week or two you would pick up the film -  if you were lucky, you had some great shots and you got to relive your trip all over.  There was one embarrassing time where I brought in unexposed film.  Boy wasn't that funny? In today's world of instant messaging, instant oatmeal and instant music, we very rarely have to wait for anything (except repair of a phone that we will talk about another time).  So I will turn off my computer, shut my iPod and take a moment to  think of a slower time.

If you took all the girls I knew
When I was single
And brought them all together for one night
I know they'd never match
my sweet imagination
everything looks WORSE in black and white

Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world's a sunny day, Oh yeah
I got a Nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So mama don't take my Kodachrome away

I did intend to paint a roll of Kodachrome film with a camera but I just kept painting the camera over and over.  There are a lot of shapes in a camera, never mind I  gave up film a long time ago.

I'm Back

It has been so long that I forgot my password, my email and the name of this blog, but all is well now.

I am resolving to blog at least once a week and here I am.  The title of this one should be really "be brave".  I have tried to paint rocks and I always gave up. This is a scene I've attempted before and always stopped but this past month I bravely persisted and voila - a river painting.  At least, I think that it looks like a river.  There are somethings that could be fixed but I feel the perspective works and for a first attempt that's good enough.
