Daily Painters Spring challenge

This week's Daily Painters challenge is spring. The other artists painted sweet pictures of birds and flowers, mostly flowers.
This winter has not been kind to Montreal. There was this incident

followed by by an snow storm that left 300 people stranded for 13 hours on the highway.

I don't think the Montreal tourist board will be reposting these videos.

So unfortunately this is my version of spring.  The trees being tapped for maple syrup, in the snow this weekend March 26.

There will maple syrup on snow and people skiing in shorts. Eventually I will be able to take off my winter tires and spring will come.

I hate maple syrup.

Somebody Moved my Easel

I think I have a poltergeist or I am just going crazy.

Somebody moved my easel. I just can't get it to feel good again.
The Daily Paintworks Challenge was toys.  I have a bunch of them  on my window sill because they make me smile as I walk into my studio.  I set up a still life but I found there was no light on my painting.

No light on painting

I made the critic move  my lights as I directed him but now I found my shadow was on the painting.

My Shadow on the easel
I worked on but I just can't seem to get it right I never had this problem before. Who said painting was easy.

Mellow Pals
The critic says it wasn't' him and Mully isn't talking but someone did move my easel.

This is Summer

Summer in Montreal is special.  A sure  sign is all the festivals -  jazz, comedy, circus etc.  They close a major bridge for the firework's competition. This time of year is great because half the city is on vacation and there is hardly any traffic.

The daily paint works challenge is "this is Summer".  My vision is Gerry trying to keep water out of his nose.  I have seen him do this a million times.

Makes me laugh every time.  What can I say - I am a romantic.

Rodin - Wow

I went to see the Rodin exhibit - and all I can say is wow.  The man is prolific.  Hubbo couldn't' believe how little work he did.  Between his assistants and the bronzers it appears as if he didn't do much.  He had to spend a lot of time looking for work.  I bet if he lived today he would be an expert on social media. We both enjoyed the show.  My favourite was standing under the thinker.  It was big really big how big do you say -  I have no idea but it was towering over me.

The daily painter's challenge this week is reflections.  I had the idea while I was looking  at the show to paint one of his small statues that was in a glass case.  You could see the front and the back reflection on the glass.  this is  painting is all about values.

If you have a chance to see the show go.

The Picket Fence

This is a Daily Painter Challenge -a picket fence photo.  These challenges force you to try something you don't think you can do or would never think of doing.  A picket fence would never be on my list not because I don't think I am capable but I don't ever think I saw one in my city.  Natural wood fences, chain link ones but picket fences?  I can't remember one.

It's so surreal

This week's DP  challenge (that is Daily Painter) is to paint something surreal or 2 unrelated objects. I tried to paint an abstract, I really tried but I just can't.  But I can paint unrelated objects and I think a stuff toy and a beer can is pretty unrelated at least in my opinion.

The toy kept disappearing and I am not naming names but I think the picture speaks for itself

Life is a Challenge

Daily painters created by Carol Marine has a daily paint works challenge.  I had a spare hour Saturday night (because I lead a very exciting life) and painted it. Scroll down to see my entry.

Critter
I do think the picture was adorable but personally I have issues with critters especially skunks and racoons, but mostly skunks, especially skunks.

If you have a dog, you understand.
