Day 24 You're my Knight in Shining Armor

Today's quote comes from the movie on Golden Pond.  Henry Fonda was on a path he should know well, but he got lost and panicked.  She knows he is getting sick and is trying to hold on to him and build him up "Listen to me, mister. You're my knight in shining armor. Don't forget it. You're going to get back on that horse and I'm going to be right behind you, holding on tight and away we're going to go, go, go!"  I told the critic that he should watch it and everything she says to him is what I would say also.  He just gave me a look and ignored me.  The secret to our long marriage is we both ignore each other.

You're my Knight in Shining Armor
I think this is one of the two greatest love scenes in movies.  This isn't about sex or passion, this is about long love, about going through all the bad stuff knowing all the foibles of your partner and still loving them.  I would go on but I would start crying.
Katherine Hepburn never married but had quite strong opinions on the topic.
  • "If you want to sacrifice the admiration of many men for the criticism of one, go ahead, get married." (also attributed to her mother)".
I'm gong to hug the critic - he'll just give me one of those looks.

  2. My mother would have loved this painting, as do I. May we all be blessed with our own knights! Kudos again for a brilliant piece and a heartfelt message.
