Day 2 - what if I drew with a marker first on gold

I think I am going to call this series "what if"

I gessoed an old painting, then drew the flower with a marker and finally painted - all from an unusual angle.  I am really enjoying the gold background, It doesn't really shine in the photo as it does in real life.

What I really busy is preparing for a show in April.  I had hoped to be finished all the paintings in December and I was except for a big one but some of the paintings are gone.  2 stolen by my children, 3 sold and 3 accidentally torn.  A story for another time.

What's Up
This is Bogey doing a head tilt.  I know it is simply a behaviour but I just love when  dog tilts his head looking as if he asking a question - it melts my heart.  Mully has never tilted her head. Alas

Good Things Come to Those Who Wait

This was taken with my Ipad because I can't find my camera. The difference between my painting and this photo is it seemed to make the dog wider - I don't understand how it did that.
I suppose eventually I will find my camera because sooner or later I will clean up.  I have to admit my house is not as clean as I would like it, because of my bad knee and my husband's avoidance of dusting.  I am not complaining about him because he has been wonderful.  He just bought me a stool and I will blog tomorrow if it helped.  He brought down the computer to the main floor so I can avoid steps.

This is Bogey.  Poor dog, he was so easy to torture.  He could hold this position forever and then toss it in the air when we said ok.

Look at those poor starving eyes.

We don't do this with Mully because the minute the cookie is on her nose she starts drooling.  I personally find puddles of drool distasteful.  She has it easy.

Poor Bogey.

Bogey

I loved this dog and the painting doesn't do him justice.  He knew a million tricks and once we won a bouquet of flowers. It was pouring outside and the radio announcer said it was raining cats and dogs, He had a quick contest -  the first person to have their dog bark on air would win flowers.  Piece of cake.  A bunch of people phoned up but Bogey was the only who barked on command.  The announcer said it was too loud so Bogey barked quietly.  He was a really talented dog.

I used to think I was a really great trainer, but I have since learned - Bogey was a really great dog.

Day 1 - The Last Walk

Sometimes you know it is and sometimes you don't.
This wasn't the actual last walk but it was the last outing.  We had driven up north and he walked and swam, caught the ball and it was the perfect day with our dog.  The leaves were turning bright red, the air was crisp and we were out with our dog.  The leaves fell,

winter came and you know the rest.  There was a last walk and now we have the memories.  I am doing the 30 in 30 challenge.  this time around, I am painting 30 dogs.  This is day one and I wanted to remember Bogey.

An apple a day

We found a great place to pick apples.I think we have been going there for the last 6 six years and we are always alone in the orchard. The apple lady recognizes us and Mully can run free. It is really bizarre, the other apple orchards have their parking lots full.
Mully figured out quite easily how to eat apples on the ground. this was probably a mistake.

There is a secret to picking apples. Walk to the furthest point and pick on your way back to the car. In the olden days we used
to be charged by the pound. Now you pay by the bag, so you tend to fill it up as much as possible. It was a lovely day. I kept thinking about
our old dog Bogey. We brought him here a year ago and had a great time. Soon after we found out about his cancer. I asked the apple lady about her dog who wasn't where he always was. He had to be put down in June, bu
t amazingly enough he was 20 years old. The apple lady asked how many apples the dog had eaten and if she had thrown up. I think the apple lady knows a thing or two. We dragged our apples to the car and found cheap gas. There was a casse croute next to the station that had real fries, non of your McDonald's artificial stuff. This is fries the way God wanted us to have them, with ketchup, salt and of course white vinegar in a paper bag. We drove off a little ways to relish every bite. Mully then helped kill our fat binge by heaving and throwing up. The apple lady knows about dogs and apples and now so do we.
Lesson learned always stop for fries in case your dog has to throw up.

Old Friends

"Can you imagine us
Years from today,
Sharing a park bench quietly?
How terribly strange
To be seventy.
Old friends"

He was the puppy from hell full of energy. I never thought he would get old. I thought he would live forever.

The house is clean, we can stay out as long as we want, and without you, we have nowhere important to go. We miss you so much.

In our eyes you were the most beautiful dog in the world.

Bogey all the time

I am taking a photography course. This week's assignment is to work the aperature. I am very pleased with the photograph of my dog Bogey. The point is the ball is in focus and the rest is not.
